An exemplary – a leader, a hero, a protector, a teacher, a philosopher, a lover, and a friend: all in one. Krishna is one of the most pragmatic lords of all times.

Catch a glimpse into Krishna’s childhood with our carefully designed board.

Lord Krishna's childhood is one of the most celebrated and endearing tales in Hindu mythology. Born to Devaki and Vasudeva in a prison cell in Mathura, Krishna's birth was prophesized to bring about the downfall of the tyrannical King Kamsa. To protect the infant from Kamsa's wrath, Vasudeva secretly carried Krishna across the Yamuna river to Gokul, where he was raised by Yasoda and Nanda. In Gokul, tales of his mischievous antics, like stealing butter and playing pranks, became legendary. He earned the name 'Makhanchor' or butter thief. His enchanting flute-playing would captivate the hearts of everyone, especially the Gopis, the cowherd maidens. Krishna's divine nature manifested early, showing his cosmic form to his mother Yasoda. He also tamed the venomous serpent, Kaliya, in the Yamuna river, saving the villagers. As a young boy, he lifted the Govardhan Hill to shield the villagers from the wrathful rains sent by Lord Indra. The demoness Putana, sent by Kamsa to kill Krishna, met her end when baby Krishna sucked her life out. Another demon, Trinavarta, was defeated when Krishna, as an infant, became incredibly heavy while being carried by him. The tales of Krishna's early feats and his role as the divine lover with Radha are significant aspects of his childhood lore. These stories highlight his divine powers, playful nature, and deep spiritual significance. Every year, Janmashtami celebrates his divine birth, with devotees recreating episodes from his early life.
